Here is a good plan to obtain disability insurance. 1) Get out of debt (if you have any) 2) Start piling away money when you can (extra jobs, etc). Work at saving months worth of your regular income. I believe the above is worth way more than any type of disability insurance you can get. I too looked into disability insurance and the premiums were outrageous for what small percentage of my regular income I would finally be paid. One thing I was so worried about when I first became self-employed was worrying about what insurance to get, etc. You can worry yourself sick with all the insurances you may want to get for those "what if" situations, and then you won't have any money left to live on. It also depends on how active you are, and with your job. I am not sure how insurance companies rate a piano technician as far as risk. I've been seriously contemplating carrying it. I worry about getting injured and being out of work for a couple of months or more. With a family of 5 and lots of bills the though of not working for more than a couple of weeks freaks me out. I'm wondering if others carry it, and how much they pay? -- Ryan Sowers, RPT Puget Sound Chapter Olympia, WA www.pianova.net -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
