Actually, it is white underneath. Quite a few chips out of the red paint - and underneath is pure white. The ladies should really put some sort of non-marring rubber bottom on their high-heels when they dance on top of the piano. What really irks me is when they do it with the lid off...... :-( Seems to be the only explanation sometimes.
