A new Steinway D has been gifted to our local college. It is "newish". Serial #581649. It came from a dealer who was using it as a rental but is in good shape. Needs some regulation and voicing etc. One of the first things I would check is the bearing, then the crown, then look for excessive lacquer in the 5th octave. The ridges aren't a problem with newer STeinways, the flat soundboards are.
