[pianotech] appraising a piano

Marshall,

Larry Fine's book, the Piano Book has changed the way they distribute information.

You can now look at the entire book online at http://www.pianobuyer.com/ . There is no supplement anymore. I believe he will be releasing 2 issues per year. If you want the print edition, Larry will surely send you one. At the PTG convention, they were $20 a copy. I think it was $35 for a year's worth (2 editions). That might be the same as the "non-show" price. Again, they are always free online.

I'm no expert on appraising, but I did stay at a Holida... Oops. Wrong train of thought. What I meant to say was that I took an excellent course on Wednesday morning at the PTG conference on "Professional Appraisals" by Michael Lipnicki, RPT, from Calgary. The Larry Fine book is an excellent start and probably one of the best resources I've found, but not the end-all on appraisals. It's merely one facet of an appraisal.

Michael is sending me a copy of the Powerpoint presentation from the class. If you'd like me to forward it to you once I get it, I'd be happy to. I was going to tell you to ask him, but then I thought that maybe when he receives 800+ emails from everyone else on the list asking for his Powerpoint, and there were only 30 in his class, he might think something is fishy... :-)

Regards,

Rob McCall
