If you're thinking of making your own, please reconsider. I didn't make a skid board, but I did make a four wheel dolly once. By the time I bought the wood, casters and bolts, I spent as much as a new one from Schaff. And that did not include the time it took me, or the risk i took getting a tire tread off the highway to use as skids on the dolly. Because I used a steel belted radial, I kept getting stuck with the steel. 

But getting back to your skid board. Look at what Schaff, Pianotek and Jansen charge. It might be cheaper.
