Don't wonder what's responsible for their choice. It's not rational, or at least not information based. We have a large number of techs, who have heard and dealt with many different pianos, who yet insist on defending Steinway to the death as they complain about front duplex noises, killer octave tone problems, treble dink, low tenor quacking, and random action ratios. The public isn't familiar with the real problems, so what do they have to guide their opinions other than entrenched dogma, perpetrated by techs who ought to know better as much as the wholly ignorant? I'd love to love Steinway, but the performance of their pianos doesn't seem to be high on their goals list. Image is what sells, and sales are what keeps them going. Ron N
