Hi all, I have known Dave since shortly after he and his wife, Kat, moved to Pacifica, where I also live. We played in a jazz septet together, which Dave organized, and has been a lot of fun. We play some original music, and Dave was by far the largest contributor. After the dot-com meltdown, I was having trouble finding work as a software engineer, so Dave started encouraging me to revive my long dormant piano tuning skills. Since then, he has been helping me start a tuning business, as well as learn the skills to become an RPG. He was a great guy to work with, very patient, and a fun sense of humor. For those of you who never heard Dave play, he was a very good jazz pianist. You can see videos and some audio recordings of Dave and the jazz septet, MOJazz on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/mojazz/335609355501. The latest entry was recorded at a dance we played on June 5th, and is Dave's final performance. For those of you in the San Francisco area, or wanting to make the trip, his family is having a memorial to celebrate David's life: Sunday, August 15th, at 4:00 PM. Mildred Owen Concert Hall 1220 Linda Mar Boulevard Pacifica, CA 94044 650-355-1882 info at pacificaperformances.org You can find directions to the hall on the Pacifica Performances http://www.pacificaperformance.org. MOJazz will be playing at the memorial, as well as some other local musicians who were friends with Dave.
