Hi John, I presume it was a dry-chemical fire extinguisher? I cleaned up one of these at a chuch maybe 5+ years ago. I simply vacuumed and blew with an air hose. I tune this piano once a year - no problems yet. I would think that if corrosion was going to occur, I would have seen it by now. But that's just what I think.... I wonder how much the chemical formulation in various fire extinguishers varies - I suppose it is always possible that one might use a chemical that would cause corrosion to steel wire, whereas another manufacturer's product might not.
