Jer - You're preaching to the choir, Jer. Without my computer, the articles
I write would never get off the ground. I've used data bases, both in
teaching and in my business, since I first got a start on computers on an
Apple II GS (I think that's what it was called.)

However, I still will use my index card system, if for no other reason than
to have a set of cards to grab in the morning for taking in the car. 

And Marshall, if you're reading this, I would second everything Jerry has
said about building a business. It takes time. I've got 900 customers, and a
lot of tuners (Jer included, I'm sure) have a lot more - but I didn't get
those all at once. Just keep working at it.

A lot of tuners I've known over the years (myself included here) have
started off by tuning part time to bring in extra money, and working a day
job to provide a steady income. Unless you inherit someone's business
ready-made, or open shop in an area with a ton of pianos to be tuned and a
real shortage of technicians, that's something you might want to consider,
if you haven't already.  Best of luck. Chuck
