OMG! We pulled the plug on the TV some years ago in our home. I haven't seen a network or cable broadcast in years. A couple days ago I brought my wife's car in to the dealer for service and I waited an hour in the waiting room. There was a gazillion-inch plazma TV with the sound system turned up way too loud. It was in the mid-morning and something called "Regis something-or-other" was on. The show itself was VERY, very painful to watch (I brought a book, but couldn't read with that THING going and it was HOT outside), but then every four minutes or so they cut to a half-dozen political ads. OMG!!! I hadn't seen any of those tortuous things in many years. How gross. How tacky. Oh, where's my thesaurus? I really can't believe people sit and watch that idiot box for hours at a time....... I found the experience absolutely stunning and repulsive.
