Tried the Mazzaglia tool for this sidewall cut and it is just too thick.

  The sidewall cut was actually done with a small saw.  The sharpened putty knife/paint scraper was used to cut the notch.

  David, I was in the same class, and if I recall correctly, which is becoming more and more difficult these days, she used a sharpened and shaped putty knife for creating the sidewall cut to connect the kerf to the bridge pin hole. Does that ring a bell? Mazzaglia also has two types of these sidewall chisels.
