I consulted a German Renner Catalog, (I don't throw anything out.<G>) Here is the chart: Wire Size by Number Wire Size in mm 13 0,775 (7.75) 13 1/2 0,8 (8.00) 14 0,825 (8.25) 14 1/2 0,85 (8.50) 15 0,875 (8.75) 15 1/2 0,9 (9.00) 16 0,925 (9.25) 16 1/2 0,950 (9.50) 17 0,975 (9.75) 17 1/2 1,0 (10.00) 18 1,025 (10.25) 18 1/2 1,050 (10.50) 19 1,075 (10.75) 19 1/2 1,10 (11.00) 20 1,125 (11.25) 20 1/2 1,115 (11.50) 21 1,175 (11.75) 21 1/2 1,2 (12.00) 22 1,225 (12.25) 22 1/2 1,25 (12.50) 23 1.3 (13.00) 23 1/2 1,35 (13.50) 24 1,4 (14.00) 24 1/2 1,45 (14.50) 25 1,5 (15.00) 26 1,6 (16.00) I hope this helps to clarify what was on that Grotrian. <G> HOWEVER, if you have my Statistics Sheet, you will see the difference between American Wire Sizes and European Wire Sizes. OR,....you can do the math and figure from mm to decimal inches and then you will see the differences in the same Number Wire. And, YES, it does make a huge difference in the voice of the piano and the tensions/inharmonicity, etc.!!! Have fun.<G> As to the original question by Roger......Rescale it and make it right this time.<G> Good rule of thumb: Do not think that the factory workers EVER got it right! They Didn't!!!<G> Regards, JOE Joe Garrett, R.P.T. (Oregon) Captain, Tool Police Squares R I -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
