I love my 3M half-face respirator. I could spray all day with it and forget it's there. But as Terry mentioned, no half-face will prevent the eyes from absorbing chemicals. The neurotoxins in automotive urethane paint are very dangerous. Spraying plates is not something that you're likely to do every day, so your level of exposure is going to be much less than someone working in an auto body shop. But any exposure poses a threat that should be considered.
