Joe, I also work on squares and birdcages and Erards and English grands. I don't mess with the original design unless I have a very good reason too. In fact I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how they did what they did, big tip of the hat to all the folks like John Delacour, for example, who put in the time to show us how to duplicate french underdampers properly.
