With a slow depression of the key, let-off could be measured at 1/8". With a firm blow, the hammer blocked solidly against the string, with no interference from the backcheck. I have only two guesses as to why. One is that the existing depression on the regulating button is leading to inconsistent interaction with the toe of the jack. The other is that the profile of the hammer butt buckskin has been compromised by wear, leading to this issue. What other possibilities am I missing?
