Hi, Ryan, I'd be happy to offer my time as a tuning tutor. I tuned for many years with just TuneLab, and then I went to North Bennet Street. What a revelation! Since I was the only one in my class with any prior experience, I gave a lot of help on the side to my classmates. One of the institute class suggestions I submitted was how to make that transition from ETD-only to aural. I can use TuneLab to help explain aural checks and so on. I also use the Coleman Beat Locator; that gets a few "aha moments". --Cy-- Cy Shuster, RPT Shuster Piano Service Albuquerque, NM 505-265-4234 Registered Piano Technician Dampp-Chaser Certified Installer www.shusterpiano.com www.facebook.com/shusterpiano On Sep 26, 2010, at 8:05 AM, Ryan Sowers wrote: > The 2011 Institute Team is looking for qualified tuning tutors! > Please contact me and let me know if you know a good candidate OR > would like to be a tutor for next year's conference. > > Tutors will get a room with a piano and will be expected to keep the > room clean and presentable for tutoring sessions. > Tutors should have recommendations, from other established technicians > Tutors should have good teaching skills. > Tutors should have a good repertoire of aural checks, hammer > techniques, and listening skills. > Contact me if you have suggestions!
