>From the CyberTuner Website # Class 3: Pitch Raising with Reyburn CyberTuner Whether you use a laptop or Pocket PC, using RCT's automated pitch raise program, one quick pass (15 minutes) leaves most notes within a cent or two for pitch raises of 50 cents or more. RCT auto-measures each note and auto-calculates its over pull using each note's optimal overpull percentage from a custom chart. New feature: you can now create, name, and save your own customized overpull percentages charts. 16. With Reyburn CyberTuner could I tune my own piano? Yes! You just need to learn how first, but learning tuning takes perseverance. To learn to tune well takes A LONG TIME! Having a RCT doesn't make you a tuner, but RCT is an excellent teaching tool. If you want to learn more about piano tuning get in touch with your local chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild. http://www.ptg.org >From the CyberTuner manual pp 86-87 After the piano is at pitch, we strongly recommend you to create another tuning record to use for your Fine Tuning pass. Why? Because a piano's inharmonicity is affected by tension of the string, so after a pitch raise, a string's partial ladder may have changed significantly. Furthermore, some thoughtful piano “engin-ears” suspect inharmonicity is affected by the stiffness of the soundboard, which varies with downforce, which is affected by overall string tension. So for maximum accuracy, we recommend you calculate a new tuning record after a pitch change of 10¢ or more. This effect has been noticed in climates where a piano's pitch changes a lot between seasons. The latest version can be downloaded from the Internet. * RCT creates super-accurate tunings from low bass to high treble because six notes are sampled (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 and A6) at as many as four partials three times each for a total of 63 sampled partials. All partials are automatically measured and recorded to a one-hundredth of a cent! * RCT creates aural-quality tunings because it directly matches sampled partials - exactly what aural tuners do every day. * Small (and all scale-challenged) pianos never sounded better! RCT automatically senses and compensates for short scaling in spinets, small grands, etc. Note point 4 -- Duaine Hechler Piano, Player Piano, Pump Organ Tuning, Servicing & Rebuilding Reed Organ Society Member Florissant, MO 63034 (314) 838-5587 dahechler at att.net www.hechlerpianoandorgan.com -- Home & Business user of Linux - 11 years>>>>
