Maybe it was the riffs  and the raffs that caused the clicks and the clacks.

Are you sure it's a click, and not a clack.

 

A clack could as easy as the sharp hitting the fallboard. 

On a grand, a click could be the damper timing set to low, and the lever
hitting the upstop rail.
