I know quite a few people who try and acuse people of this and that, when really, that is what they are themselves...just sayin'.  If you feel as if you need to get the last word, then so be it.  But, of course, if you don't respond to this, then I have gotten the last word, in which case, I rest my case  :-).
 
Yes, your approach does take "a little" more work.  Not sure about what your hourly rate is, but time IS money with what I do.  So, what was that about saving 10s of thousands of dollars?  Maybe ya should re thunk it  ;-)

Matthew,  if you wish to argue that your approach is more convenient and gives you a level of security, fine. For you to imply, though, that it saves you money in the long run is ridiculous. Insurance companies make money for a reason. Lots of money, actually. Their biggest problem is what to do with all the cash they generate. I’d bet you have spent several times what I’ve spent on vehicles, maintenance, and insurance. Admiittedly, my approach takes a little more work, a little more thinking outside the box, perhaps more inconvenient at times. For the 10s of thousands of dollars it has saved me in my lifetime, I’d say it is worth it. YMMV.

True.  Unless of course, someone rearends you.....and wouldn't ya know?  They don't have insurance!  Ooops, guess I just lost that money I thought I was saving over the years :-)
