Judging from your web site, it looks like you claim to be running a business!

Municipal law is public information. Look for the town web site. Most towns allow certain business activities from home, and are not particularly punitive, in my experience. The "You better sign up or we'll getcha!" notices can be frightening, but that seems to be a way to get your attention.
