Thanks again everybody! To me it was not about "exact" pricing or any pricing at all - but simply "fair pricing". For example if somebody asks if $ 1000 is a fair price for one tuning, one could simply answer "yes" or "no" Neither way would have anything to do with Anti Trust Laws. Appreciating everybody who responded, my respects to all guys, P.S. Hoping nobody takes offense if some stores are willing to pay actually a little more for work. Hope the word "more" didn't get me now in trouble again.. cheers Norbert _____ From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of Leslie Bartlett Sent: Sunday, April 01, 2012 1:41 PM To: pianotech at ptg.org Subject: Re: [pianotech] Estimated fees I have appreciated this discussion... We're stuck with discretionary money, and that puts us in a different category than people who make or fix things which are necessities, so "price fixing" in our business depends on the market entirely, and the comments about different markets having markedly different pricing standards stands out suggesting there is no possible way the PTG could possibly be accuse of "price fixing"..... There is simply no way it could be done. So, I'd think we could talk about our pricing, but it would be relevant only to our close geography, and even elements of climate would enter into the discussion further diffusing and "fixing" noting. But thanks for this discussion. By the way we are in Canada , don't have same anti trust laws as U.S. Anti trust laws are to prevent "price fixing" that's their sole purpose. This was not my intent asking a simple question, sorry for getting you mixed up in this, Thanks to all who still saw fit to give me an idea that we were at least in the ballpark. Can always go up from there..hint hint Best to all Norbert _____ From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of Heritage Pianos Sent: Saturday, March 31, 2012 8:39 PM To: fg at floydgadd.com; pianotech at ptg.org Subject: Re: [pianotech] Estimated fees To make it easy, paying a tech $ 250 for his after delivery services of a fully prepped grand, we deem fair and appropriate. Those who don't agree with this can simply say "no" Thank you to all those who have given us exceptional service in the past. I appreciate working together with all PTG members to the benefit of our common customers and be, at same time fair to you and all parties involved. Now take me to jail for having said this.. But let's go a little easier on Norbert. He is not a technician. He is a customer. He sells pianos, some very fine ones (I'm in Manitoba , he's on the west coast, and I tune for one of his customers!) and he is asking what is fair to offer a tech for a defined body of work. Now I know we can't give him an answer. But as a customer, I really doubt that he is crossing the line of the anti-trust issue. And we don't have to either, as long as we graciously decline to answer him in this forum. Floyd Gadd Manitoba Chapter _____ No virus found in this message.
