Bridle straps were much too tight- probably intentionally done by previous
tech to compensate for broken butt cords. Using soft pedal then pulls the
wippens too high and the spoon on some of them is lifting the damper.

Yamaha 1970 Console Piano. Customer complained that when he pressed the
"soft" pedal, many note sustained! Why? How was it fixed? <G>
Same piano, lots of butt cords broken w/springs in the "up" position. No
difference in the touch or repetition. Why?<G>
