To do the job correctly you need take off enough wood also so the thickness of the key is the same as when the ivory was attached as the plastic key tops are quite a bit thicker than the ivory. If you don't do this the sharps will to low. Then you have to raise the sharps and destroy the geometry of the action. In a grand the capstans are then farther back. Save yourself a lot of trouble and regulation by doing the job right.
