[pianotech] Cleaning Very Old Plate (now string cleaning)

I wore vinyl gloves 3 thick when using the brake part cleaner ( used it to blast verdigris from centers, too: not as good as blasting with compressed air after soaking the parts in naphta, though ) and still lost all sensation in my fingertips for a month. And all emotions. Bummer.
