You may prefer tuning it completely by ear, or have your device give you pitches for the temperament octave if it will do that for you. and of course...make sure you know what pitch standard it was strung for! i don't even bother muting the other string..just tune listening to the string you are adjusting, and then bring the other up to match. Sometimes incrementally works well too. Then tune pure octaves. and done. Something else to remember is that the strength of your pressure will affect the pitch. The harder you press, the sharper it will go as you are literally stretching the string up, so chose a constant pressure moderate pressure...which will seem like NOTHING after modern piano touch. There is certainly no need to pound in a pitch as there is minimal rendering. Do the middle, go down..then tune the high treble. If it's really out you may need to iterate once depending upon how stable the case is. Have fun! Take your time the first time, but once you've got it, it's quick.
