Hi, Not to avoid the question, but my thinking is that one needs to educate the client as to why the damage happened in the first place.
Most pianos of this design have no support for the board hinge and the addition of a few favorite music books behind the board will keep the joint from being damaged when the player swats the music to keep the page open.

Repair for be is glue with tight bond and use a long dry wall screw at least 1 1/4" long. One sometimes one needs to drill out the tombstone hinge so you need to remove the screw holding the brass hinge and use the screw as a handle to hold the hinge while drilling out the hole the dry wall screw goes through. Not much material needs to be removed so it is safe to do without any other tool.

What is the "best" fix for a music desk on a console or studio upright which has been damaged at the screw pivot point? Its funny how one good smack on the music desk, or a mere cinching up of ratchet strap in the course of a move can break the wood at the screw [tongue in cheek here].
So what is the most economical and fast in-home repair (while I tune)? Five minute epoxy? Tightbond with a small clamp?
I was thinking of calling Isaac Sadigursky but I'll try this list first... see if anyone else knows.... :^)
