I pounded on mine for a couple of hours that afternoon after taping up. 
It didn't really hurt until I changed tape that evening. Masking tape, 
that is. Looked like the inside of an onion, but it was less trouble 
than I expected. Just like split fingers from winter dryness, masking 
tape cures a lot of wounds.
