I don't know if this is considered according to Hoyle by other techs, but what I do with grands is rest my forearm or arm on the plate or stretcher to support it. Not only is this less tiring, but the support gives me more consistent control over the movement of the pin. I don't need to bend the pin in the vertical axis to achieve my results, while doing this can offer more control of the pin with other methods. I hope this is helpful. Though I used to try and tune grands lefty, but found pushing against the front of the hole increased the torque or apparent torque and was too physically tiring. But then was then and now is now...I should give it another shot. Jim Ialeggio -- Jim Ialeggio jim at grandpianosolutions.com 978 425-9026 Shirley Center, MA
