Hello Issac! I can never be inspired enough by your practical tips. I don't know if you would remember me but we have talked many times at conventions (ten years ago though). There is probably not a week that goes by that I do not use your concepts to help keep a high standard for service. To particularly you and many other educators like you. Thanks for another tip. :-) I think our figures a smaller plate can fetch about $35.00.

Kindest Regards,
Garret

Subject: [pianotech] Scrap Value of Plate

Hello to Everyone !
I had followed this interesting Thread;
Here is my take on it:
besides the value of scrap Metal,something else can be done with it:

1] All Plate Screws can be saved; {here is Isaac-The Junk Man, again}
  a]The short ones,Connecting Pin Block to the Plate from the webbing area are good for Rebuilders,when some of them are badly damaged or LOST in the process of Platiing; Short #18 screws are good to replace missing Leg Locks on Grand pianos.
  B] The long Screws are needed for Grand Legs and Pedal Lyres..
The cost of those large #18 and #20 screws are about $3 a piece and they are hard to find.
They come in Flat and nice looking OBLONG shapes.

2] A chunk of a broken plate can make a very entertaining Chapter Program; Replacing Broken Agraffes ; Replacing broken Hitch Pins ; Removing broken Tuning Pins ; Installing Baldwin Type Accu-Just Spring Roll Hitch Pins

All this was done in the past Los Angels and few others So.
California Chapter meetings and newbies had got some ideas what field problems TO STAY AWAY from on a first encounter...
Hope, it will inspire other listers to try that approach.
Regards to everyone on a new List.
