When I left two years ago, I was at $43K, 12 month appointment, 37.5 less than flexible hours, my title was Keyboard Specialist (a 'technician' classification would have had to join the union), I had a wonderful shop space with my own tools and benches, $3500 budget (long since gone) and good benefits. Good piano technicians are far more rare than almost any other position in the university. Technicians in the New Jersey system are paid much lower salaries than 'specialists'. I was required, by federal law, to keep a record of my times in and out. It made it easy to keep a record of my over time. Newton
