I like all of Jon Page's advice on this topic. I would add one more thing. It's a bit of a cop-out, but you may be able to eliminate a few of the trichord damper felts, replacing them with flats. Flat dampers will give slightly slower damping, but this may be a trade-off you can afford on a particular piano, especially for the treble-most trichord dampers. - Tom McNeil, RPT - Vermont Piano Restorations
