Dave, If the model offered is the CFIIIs, I think that you will find them to be more than suitable as replacements for the instruments you describe. The New York Yamaha C&A stock is in high demand for recordings, and is coming to be used at more and more functions in and around "the city". In other markets (for example, Montreal) the local CFIIIs is often requested instead of the local S&S instrument. Here in the SF bay area, while Pro Piano has a hammerlock on many venues, there is both a new D and a new CFIIIs at the SF Conservatory, where the Yamaha is in constant use, and the D collects dust. Further, in their "major" concert markets, Yamaha is most careful to make sure that instruments stay playable...which is to say, in good regulation and voicing. No, they are not like "real" S&S Ds. Yes, I would rather work on the Ds. But, if the Ds you have need substantive work, and depending on the size of your budget, the Yamahas will not disappoint anyone who is not blindered by having the wrong name on the fallboard. Hmm - an additional thought - how much duo-piano stuff do you have to prepare for? Check with Eric Johnson at the Yamaha center in NY if you would like more specific information about each instrument. I am pretty sure that he would be pleased to help you find out whatever you might like to know. Good guy. Good luck! Horace At 05:29 PM 11/17/99 -0800, you wrote: >Caut, >I need your opinion.
