No, _no_, NO, it is the nature of the INTERFACE between metal and leather. ANY corrosion will cause friction and the corrosion will be invisible without a microscope. Polish those pins! Lubricate pins and leather. Do bear in mind though, leather soles are very popular on shoes because they do grip the floor well, unless polished and lubricated, like ice. It does make a difference.
