List,

Thanks for the "It IS a full time job" thread. Discussions like this
help to clarify the mission of this list and the CAUT committee. Before
the thread dies out I want to officially announce the CAUT activities
for the Chicago Institute next year. Below is the text that was printed
on a flyer and distributed at the College Music Society conference last
week. More information will be announced on this list as we progress on
the planning. Please make a note of this event and by all means, pass
the information on to your administrators and the piano professors at
your institution.

Regards,
Don Mckechnie

The College and University Technicians Committee of the Piano
Technicians Guild invites you to attend a unique event

The Piano in Academia:
A Symposium

Friday and Saturday, June 28 - 29, 2002
The Hyatt Regency O’Hare
Chicago, Illinois

We are bringing together music administrators, piano professors, piano
technicians and piano manufacturers together for a symposium on the
piano in academia. Each professional area has its own challenges to
overcome to ensure its school has the best piano inventory and
maintenance possible. The College and University Technicians Committee
believes it is in best interest of all parties that we come together to
discuss our problems and solutions for attaining a quality piano
inventory and maintenance program. The event will start with an opening
assembly followed by forums with a panel and moderator. Each
professional area will be given time to present and discuss its
perspectives. After the forums, there will be a workshop followed by a
closing session. The symposium will take place all day on the Friday the
28th and the morning of Saturday the 29th.

Attending this event will also allow you the opportunity to experience
the largest piano technicians convention in the world. You will gain a
new understanding of what the Piano Technicians Guild is all about, a
high standard of professionalism and continuing education. There will be
approximately one thousand technicians from around the globe attending
the convention. Also, piano manufacturers from around the world will be
displaying their instruments for you to try out. In the evenings,
several of the major manufacturers hold a recital and reception. These
events are not to be missed!

Plan to attend this exciting and informative event. Working together, we
can achieve greater success in our mutual goals.
