Thanks for all the helpful replies. Earlier in the year I asked assistance on how to replace a harpsichord string, and also received much help. I compiled your suggestions and made copies for a faculty memeber and conservatory teacher with vested interests in this instrument. They came to the shop and each experimented a few times, then we went to the collegium, and I "supervised" the install. They did a fine job, I have yet to actually replace a string myself, and "Tom Sawyer" will forever be my hero! (next to Homer Simpson of course):>) Thanks for the added bit of wisdom Avery, also, I understand the library is looking for books to purchase. So to recall the take-home line from Amadeus,.. "there it is!" Many harpsichordists do some of their own work, so that would also be a possibility. Do you have someone on faculty or in the community? Just a thought.
