speaking of damper problems

Okay, I will jump in here, against my better judgement...Just how dry do you
want these dampers? I really believe there is a limit to how fast 1-2" of
felt can stop the vibrations of a long piece of music wire. Isn't some
after-ring desirable? In harpsichords, especially in the bass, it was
considered mandatory. I believe that some after-ring is okay, particularly
if it's consistent. I know, I know, how much, you're asking? Be creative,
use your sensitivity. This is where art and science blend. My two cents worth.
