For the hitchpins replaced with vertical ones, to go back to original could a new or another plate be considered? There must be some scrapped D plates around, the question is are they all the same? The other question is, how is it functioning now? What will you have after two , four, six or $12,000? What happens if you leave it as is? I know a big issue in many places is how much practice will be allowed on the performance instrument. Here is a 9 foot piano with "Steinway" on the fall board and unless its a sick pup, this mutt might serve as a D to practice on (maybe even rehearse on) thus preserving the performance D.
