Ray-
How is the voicing and capo strikepoints?
Irregular voicing can feel like "unevenness in the keys" as the
performer struggles to control sound from note to note.
Also poor strikepoints can have the performer banging desperately in the
treble. I would not assume the factory stikepoints were tested note by
note.
    How is the regulation?
    How are the keybushings?
A week before recital is a hard time to
communicate with a nervous performer. If you're unsure about reweighting the
keys, now is probably not the time. (Do you have a good set of gram
weights?)
By the way, I learn a lot from picky performers. They can feel and hear
things I can't. When I can please them, I know I've got it right. This guy
could be a great friend to have around.
