I haven't seen a Tokiwa set yet that wasn't nearly perfect....I took the Steinway Academy damper class last year and was amazed to find out that the damper installers in the factory use the same felt from the same boxes that they sell us...complete down to the 1(!) extra tricord felt in the set. They spend a surprising amount of time matching the felt blocks in matching pairs for height and thickness before gluing them on the damper heads. I have never had much luck with the NY damper felt sets I've used in the past, which is why I used the Hamburg felt for a while and now the Tokiwa. The other bonus for the Tokiwa is that there is enough felt there to do any model piano you can imagine and as a result after doing three or four sets you almost have enough left-overs to do another piano. Try em, you'll like em. Hi, Just be sure to raise the dampers off the strings when you insert your mutes. Trichord wedges are notoriously feeble, and will tear at the slightest provocation. One problem we have seen at UT is that the sides of the trichord wedges are not cut evenly (this is on the replacement sets we've bought from NY). In other words, one side is fat, the other, skinny. This causes bad damping on the skinny side, and you have to resort to all sorts of shenanigans to solve the problem. I am curious to know if the Tokiwa felts have this problem or not. Eric?....
