Prepped Piano HELP! (xlist)

For marking nodes on strings, I remember it was suggested to use thread.  
Might be a little harder to install with big hands, but won't leave anything 
behind, or mess up the bass strings.  I don't remember the thickness 
recommended, but I wonder if yarn would even work?  (Makes it easier to see)
