This is a good point, Jon. But I checked it out, and on the piano in 
question, the angle of the lever doesn't go to horizontal when the pedal is engaged. 
That is in part due to the fact that damper lever flange rail tilts up when the 
pedal is engaged. And when I lift the lever with my finger, to simulate key 
travel, the angle still doesn't come up to horizontal.
