Jim-

I don't know the details; I saw it in a new shop. It had a monster dust =
collector in a sound insulated closet. I don't know how big the floor =
duct is. The system was wonderfully quiet, except for my jealous =
thoughts.

Thanks to everyone. Good books/ advice.

Ed, I've never thought about putting the dust control through the =
floor. What about when it clogs up? Roto-Rooter? Speaking of dust =
control, if everything I have is vented properly won't the length of the =
ductwork lessen the power? The articles I've read so far just say keep =
it as short with as less pipe as possible. I'm going to the supplier and =
he should answer such questions, but your experience and advice is =
appreciated.

  Thanks

Dust control ducts cast into the floor. One in the middle for the =
table saw. =20

Vacuum and air compressor in a sound proofed clost.

    List,

    =20

I'm currently planning my rebuilding "dream shop" at my home. Can =
anyone refer me to articles or books that might give me ideas to look =
at? It will be aprox. 1000 sq. ft. and hopefully be done this =
fall/winter. Currently I have a small, efficient shop (200 ft.) where I =
do action work and key work, etc. and the new shop will be in addition =
to this.=20

    =20

Does anyone have the "ideal" shop (if it exists) or know of one =
worth investigating?=20

    =20

I have definite ideas, but your input will be greatly appreciated, =
especially pertaining to layout, i.e.; floor plan.=20

    Regards,

    Jim Busby
