<< Can anyone verify that the Hamburg Steinway has ALWAYS had the sos rail mounted on the belly and not on the stack? >> I can verify that in 1968, a Hamburg B had the sos. on the action stack. (Just finished it). AND there is an experimental D here at the dealer that has the sos. mounted on the belly rail, with the up stop rail mounted out in front of the underlever posts! (Always and never, my too favorite words that I almost always never use).
