Your post made me smile!

I remember the ordeal I went through to get the position at Illinois =
Wesleyan University made into full-time. It was nice to walk in that =
first day--week--whatever and feel not only that I had accomplished =
something some folks said would never happen, but I felt like I =
"belonged" and had earned the respect of the faculty and administration. =
 It felt very good.

  Subject: New experience

  Esteemed Colleagues:

  I had a new experience today. After 18 years of being a part-time =
contract technician at SMU in Dallas, I spent my first day as a =
full-time employee. (It's been 30 years since I've had a real job!) I =
don't suppose there is a really significant difference except for now =
getting benefits....and vacation, paid holidays etc. It really is quite =
remarkable how much paperwork has to be done to accomplish something =
like this in a large organization. As of today it's done. =20

  It actually felt really good!

  dave
