MOI and static balancing

Richard,

I know it's "doable" - never said it wasn't. What I said was that static
balancing ALONE would NOT do it. You have to plug in the various masses,
where they are, the lever ratios, where you put the weights, etc, etc. My
point that accelerated this merry-go-round of discussion was that reducing
the MOI of the key ALONE does not buy you very much overall, because that's
not where the big MOI is in the first palce. It's out at the hammer head.

In the law bass, with big hammers, the MOI is high. In the high treble,
the hammers are light; the MOI is low; and you don't have to put much lead
in the keys, in many cases, none at all.

Sincerely, Jim Ellis
