On the line of this discussion, I remember vividly a conversation, years ago, I had with a PTG member (I remember the face but not the name) who related to me that he used to work with Keith Hardesty in LA and told me about a method that Keith used which is the same as that described by Jim. I don't want to diminish Jim's discovery... just offer what I've heard in relation to it... If anyone knows more about Keith Hardesty it would be nice to learn more about this interesting Tech... David Stanwood David I didn't know Keith &Apparently he has passed on but he also passed on his idea to a few friends, one of which gave me a different set of touch type weights as someone in this thread was describing for the purpose of setting balance weight by judging the key speed as it moved up & down. Fenton Murray has come up with a chart in relation to this method which shows a variety of different columns that chronicle up, down & friction in relation to balance weight. I haven't studied it thoroughly yet but its quite simple & ingenious. Jim Christopher is the tech who knows more about Keith from a personal friendship if you wish to contact him. Jim is not on this list. Dale Erwins Pianos Restorations 4721 Parker Rd.
