These pianos have  their own sound, and it is pretty bright.  


On the few Sohmers I've encountered I found the sound to be more "howling,"  
than brassy. Maybe it's just a difference in interpreting the sound. But it  
doesn't sound like a "normal" piano.
 
I think there were some posts some time back about replacing the  bridge with 
a normal one. Anyone remember who did that, and the resulting  sound?
