Fairly new S&S wips are making an audible noise when the lever contacts the upstop screw. What I have done on a few samples is to under-cut the buckskin to release the glue joint. Using a pointed Exacto blade from the rear hollows out a portion leaving the sides glued but the blade is sometimes liable to slip and slice the buckskin. Bummer. Coming in from the sides to release the buckskin retains the rear edge being glued and so far no slips. Has anyone encountered this and what might be the consequences of this unglued area possibly curling. Should I cut in from the sides and reglue the edges? Thread in a thin bushing cloth to bolster? Hhhhhmmmmmm, Jon Page
