List, I heard a story a long time ago about how the orchestras in this country, and possibly Europe, started going up in pitch. The story goes that "Leapin Lenny" took the NY Phil up to 442 around 1962. There was much gnashing of teeth and pulling of hair but Lenny had his way. After that, the cat was out of the bag. I suppose this is folklore but perhaps there is some truth. Anyone out there hear this story too? Don McKechnie
