Hi Avery, We participate in the Yamaha program but really we deal with the local dealer not with Yamaha. Never had any problems to speak of except that this year might be the last year and then the university will have to bite the bullet and come up with the dough to buy some pianos. A real disappointment.... ;-) (he said, just oozing sarcasm). Actually I have recently had some very productive talks with my chair and piano faculty about this scenario (no loaners) and the fact that we have an aging inventory coupled with no budget for either piano maintenance or piano replacement/rebuilding. I wrote up a document making the case for budgeting for these items and presented it to the faculty. It was well received. We'll be meeting with the dean in a couple weeks. I think it has finally sunk in that what we have been doing (nothing) is not a terribly astute strategy for the long haul. Back to the loaners (mostly P22s): they do come in needing very little work except lots of tuning. But, then again I'm not all that inclined to put much time into these pianos because 1) they are in non-piano faculty studios and so are a bit lower on the priority list and 2) I'm up to my rear in alligators anyway and 3) they aren't ours and won't be around very long.
